HF A2360 is a high frequency motion sensor. With its intelligent design, it can be used for both the ceiling and wall mount applications. Due to its very compact size, it is best suited for applications with space constraints. Due to its HF-sensor technology, user can hide the sensor inside the false ceiling or furniture paneling, giving no hint of its installation from outside.

Motion sensor

Motion sensor is an intelligent device which controls the ON-OFF operation of electrical loads. When it detects motion inside its detection area, it automatically turns the load ON. It turns OFF the load after preset time delay if no movement is detected for the set time.

It provides artificial light only when it is needed. This reduces the large amount of energy wastage and helps in making the most energy efficient lightings. 

HF A2360 – HF ceiling and wall mount motion sensor

HF A2360 is a high frequency ceiling and wall mount motion sensor. It has cutting-edge HF-sensor operating as the heart of its system. It is a trans-receiver of high frequency microwave signals. First it emits the signals which are reflected back from the surrounding objects, like wall, furniture or floor. It receives the echo of the reflected signals. Whenever there is any change in the received echo that means the movement is detected inside the detection area and the sensor triggers the switching mechanism. This detection technique is irrespective of ambient temperature and hence it gives the seamless performance over the various climate conditions.

Because of its HF-sensor technology, it can detect motion through doors, glass partitions, thin walls, wooden or stud walls, etc. Hence it can be installed under the false ceiling or inside furniture paneling, giving no hint of its presence from outside. 

Selecting the installation location

Mounting height: With the increased mounting height, the detection area increases and sensitivity to detect the movement is reduced. Hence the product must be installed at the optimal mounting height to suit the particular application.

Detection cone: Make sure to cover the required detection area. Avoid window surfaces.

Avoid exposure to direct light. This may disturb the operation of photocell and it might not able to measure the correct ambient brightness level.

Avoid disturbance or distraction by obstacles or moving objects like fan, curtains, ventilator drafts, hanging lamps, trees, etc.

Near the edge of its detection area, it provides better detection to the tangential movements. 

Adjustable settings

Three settings are available to adjust the operation of the motion sensor to suit the particular application. These setting can be altered any time. The last setting will remain stored in the system in the event of power failure.

Coverage Area setting:

Motion sensor’s detection reach distance can be set with the help of Reach setting knob. 

Set the knob fully anticlockwise to set the minimum reach distance of 2 m. To set the maximum reach distance of 8 m, set the knob fully clockwise. Similarly intermediate settings can be done by adjusting the knob accordingly. Indicator LED flashes between 1 to 10 times to indicate the set value of reach distance. 1 time being 1 meter and 10 times being the maximum distance of 8 meters.

Twilight setting:

With in-built photocell, motion sensor continuously measures ambient light and constantly compares it with the preset light threshold level. Load is switched ON when ambient light falls below a specific threshold while it detects the movement. When there is enough ambient light (above the set threshold value), motion sensor does not turn ON the load even there is any movement inside the detection area.

This threshold value of lighting level can be set with the help of twilight setting knob. Set the knob fully anticlockwise to set the minimum L level of 10 L. This will turn ON the load by movements only when the ambient brightness is very low, hence during the night time. To set the maximum light level of 2000 l, set the knob fully clockwise. This will turn ON the load by movements even in the full ambient brightness condition, i.e. even during day time. Similarly intermediate settings can be done by adjusting the knob accordingly.

There is no clock inside the system. Hence motion sensor decides the time based on the ambient light level.

Time setting:

When motion sensor detects any movement inside its detection area, it automatically turns the load ON. It turns OFF the load after preset time delay if no movement is detected for the set time.

This off-delay time can be set with the time setting knob. Set the knob fully anticlockwise to set the minimum time of appox. 10 sec. To set the maximum time of 30 min, set the knob fully clockwise. Similarly intermediate settings can be done by adjusting the knob accordingly. Indicator LED flashes between 1 to 10 times to indicate the set value of off-delay time. Time values for number of flashes are:

(1-10 sec), (2-1 min) , (3-2 min) , (4-5 min) , (5-8 min) , (6-10 min) , (7-15 min) , (8-20 min) , (9-25 min) , (10-30 min).

Any movement detected during this off-delay time will re-start the timer.

 

Installation

When power is applied to motion sensor, it calibrates its system. During this calibration process, indicator LED flashes couple of times and also load is turned ON for few seconds. It takes around 30 seconds of time till it comes to steady state condition. During this time motion sensor does not detect any movement. Modify any setting only after it comes to steady state condition.

Follow the below sequence for required time, light and reach distance settings.

-          Set the Light to maximum (Day mode) and Reach distance to maximum.

-          First, set the desired value of Reach distance by performing walk test.

-          Adjust the Time setting knob to set the required off-delay timing.

-          Set the desired light value by adjusting the light setting knob.
